CAPITAL Card Services

CAPITAL Card Services' campaign week kicked off with employees receiving free Live United shirts. Other activities included an agency fair, several opportunities to attend rallies and have a free meal, and time to compete on a Wii during breaks.

Employees played Wii throughout the week on their breaks - with the system given away in a drawing of all givers at the end of the week.

At the end of the week, a drawing was held from all SEUW givers for the Wii system. Along with the drawing for the Wii, other incentives included: gift cards, hooded sweartshirts, days off and Heart Club logowear. Incentives were available for employees who increased or made a new pledge of $1/week, pledged an hour/week, or joined the Heart Club. More.

Wells Fargo Recon & Control

ECMs Margaret Werdel, Amy Bosma and Dana Roth planned an energetic breakfast rally for the employees of Wells Fargo Recon & Control. Staff got their morning exercise with a game of Stand Up Sit Down. The game quickly illustrated how many had been touched by SEUW programs.

A quick game of Stand Up Sit Down showed the impact SEUW has among their coworkers.

Rally goers learned about Genesis before viewing this year's video and a video message of support for United Way from corporate Wells Fargo President & CEO, John Stumpf. Along with a full month of casual days, employees who pledged were entered in a drawing for a portable DVD player and iPod. More.

Nationally, 47% of workers say they always or usually live paycheck to paycheck. SEUW partner, Consumer Credit Counseling, provided 2,540 financial counseling sessions in 2008 to assist local households in developing budgets and financial goals.

How did you get involved with United Way?

Eide Bailly was asked for a volunteer to work on the professional group campaign in 1988, and I volunteered.

What do you enjoy about volunteering for United Way?

Being involved in what I think is the premier provider of nonprofit funds in our Sioux Empire Community.

Our new initiative pairs volunteer mentors with homeless families. Can you share about a mentor that served as a role model for you?

My wife, Reneece. I met her in high school. She has always been a role model in caring and giving in the community.

What does Live United mean to you?

Living in a way that you are always taking in the needs of others in your daily life.
