Volunteer Opportunities

Sioux Empire United Way Volunteers

Did you know that 99% of Sioux Empire United Way's "staff" are actually volunteers? In fact almost 800 individuals volunteer for United Way. Volunteers help out in a variety of areas:

  • Provide stewardship for the organization by serving on the Board of Directors.
  • Assess needs in the community, review agencies, and allocate funds as Community Impact volunteers.
  • Lead the campaign's goals and strategies, ask local businesses to invest in United Way, or plan and hold their own company's campaign rallies as Campaign volunteers.
  • Develop a detailed marketing plan and communicate the message of United Way as Marketing volunteers.
  • Donate their time in a variety of other ways including auditing all campaign pledges, preparing large mailings, and providing general office support.

If you are interested in volunteering for Sioux Empire United Way in any of these roles, please connect with us by using our form.

Become an Emerging Leader

Sioux Empire United Way’s Emerging Leaders are tomorrow’s community leaders and philanthropists and we’re always welcoming new members. Our growing network of enthusiastic professionals learn, grow, and get their hands dirty in partnership with the Sioux Empire United Way’s large group of supported agencies. We help members better understand the human service needs of our community by providing for children, vulnerable adults, and people in crisis.

In the past, Emerging Leaders has made an incredible impact on our community logging over 250 volunteer hours. These hours were spent at Lunch & Learn and hands-on volunteering. Volunteers gained insight about SEUW funded agencies through a variety of ways such as:

  • Reviewing scholarships for the Sioux Falls Area Community Foundation
  • Delivering furniture for the Furniture Mission
  • Serving meals at St. Francis House
  • Assisting at Sharing Christmas with Community Outreach
  • And much more!
