Sioux Empire United Way recently awarded $205,410 in grants to several area non-profits. Grant amounts ranged from $5,000 to $38,110. Grant funding is awarded specifically for programs that have been in existence for less than three years.
“As the Sioux Empire continues to grow, so do the needs of our community,” said Monie Siemonsma, Sioux Empire United Way Community Impact Chair. “Each year, Sioux Empire United Way is pleased to provide grant funds to developing programs that are working to address our community’s evolving and unmet needs.”
This year, 12 area non-profit programs received grant awards. The funds will be used for programs that provide a variety of services that include: free after-school music programming for underprivileged children, service and companion dogs for disabled veterans and former first responders injured in the line of duty, and shelter housing for men, women & families.
Sioux Empire United Way partners with non-profit programs in Lincoln, McCook, Minnehaha and Turner Counties. For a complete list of this year's grant recipients, please click here.
