Larry Oppold served the Sioux Empire United Way from 1980 to 1985 in what is now the community impact role. After his untimely death in 1990 at the age of 46, his wife and friends established an award fund in his memory at the Sioux Falls Area Community Foundation. The Larry Oppold Memorial Fund grants at least $250 to a human services professional selected by United Way for "outstanding dedication to his or her work and for demonstrating those qualities of community service, caring, advocacy for those less fortunate, and professionalism that Larry demonstrated so that his memory will live on in good works."
The Award is to be used by the recipient "to further develop professional skills and knowledge or to donate to the work of his or her agency."
Nomination Forms must be received in the United Way office by Friday, January 15, 2021, to be eligible for this year’s award. A panel of judges will weigh each nomination fairly before making a decision. If you have any questions, please call 336-2095 or email email@example.com.
