"Oh please, let it be book day!"

Sioux Empire United Way has provided Dolly Parton's Imagination Library to the Sioux Empire since 2002. This month, more than 11,100 children will receive a free book in the mail through the program. Studies show that parents who have access to books are four times more likely to read and share books with their children. Thank you to an Imagination Library recipient's parent for sharing this great note with us:

On Friday afternoon, I picked up Luke (my 4-year-old) from daycare, and we stopped at the library to check out some books for the weekend.

As we drove home and pulled up to our mailbox, I hear out of the backseat, "Let it be book day! Oh please, oh please, oh please, oh please, let it be book day!"

Much to his delight, it was, in fact, the day that this month's Dolly Parton book arrived, and it was met with "YES, YES, YES, YES, YES!!!!"

He was absolutely thrilled to receive that book in the mail, never mind the fact that he had two books already on his lap from the library.

Thank you to Sioux Empire United Way and Imagination Library for making the day of a little 4-year-old boy!
