We help you help your community.

Join our growing network of enthusiastic volunteers to learn, grow, and make an impact in your community through Sioux Empire United Way's network of supported agencies. We help members better understand the human service needs – providing for children, vulnerable adults, and people in crisis – right here at home.

In 2024, Volunteer United made an incredible impact in the Sioux Empire donating over 958 volunteer hours. Check out our full impact report here!

Upcoming Events

Check out our events calendar to see how you can get involved!

Each month, the staff at Boys & Girls Clubs prepare a hearty meal for the teens, and everyone sits together at the tables and has dinner. These "Family Dinners" are usually themed and are a great feast! Boys & Girls Clubs have invited Volunteer United to join for dinner on July 9th - all you need to bring is yourself and a big appetite! This is a chance to engage with the community's youth, chat with them about their summer, learn about their interests, and get to know them on a personal level.

Join us in supporting Feeding South Dakota!

Together we'll help with a range of tasks based on their operational needs for the day. Opportunities include packing boxes for their mobile food distribution and senior box programs, preparing bags for their Backpack program, and sorting through their donated items.

Volunteers are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing and close-toed shoes. Parking is available in the east parking lot - a sign that reads "Volunteer Parking" means you are in the correct place! Please check-in at the front desk.

To participate you will need to register before August 6th & sign a waiver with Feeding South Dakota. Please be on the lookout for an email with a link to the waiver 1 week before the event.

Join Volunteer United at St. Francis House to help serve lunch to their guests! Volunteers are an integral component in the operation of St. Francis House where they are moving people from Homelessness to Hope!

Volunteers are expected to arrive at 11:15 a.m., wear close-toed shoes, and tie long hair back. We will lend a hand in preparing and/or serving meals, making sack lunches, preparing late plates, and baking items for guests.

Join us at Delta Dental of South Dakota to assemble oral health kits! We'll put together bags for children in the Sioux Falls School District and assemble New Smile bags for new parents at local hospitals. Bags include toothbrushes, toothpaste, floss, informational pamphlets, and more!

Volunteers can park on the street on the West and South sides of the Non-Profit Center. There is an entrance in front across from the Canaries Birdcage.

Join us for Brews, Buddies, & Books, an event free/open to the public on August 15th, 3-6PM! Join Volunteer United in delivering more of the books you love to the Little Free Libraries in our community, through Dolly Parton's Imagination Library. Stop by Severance Brewing Co. during our happy hour (3-6PM) to pick up your assignments. Bring a buddy to receive a token for a free SEUW Brew! Volunteers are encouraged to drop off an average of 15 children's books between 2-3 locations by October 3.
