We help you help your community.

Join our growing network of enthusiastic volunteers to learn, grow, and make an impact in your community through Sioux Empire United Way's network of supported agencies. We help members better understand the human service needs – providing for children, vulnerable adults, and people in crisis – right here at home.

In 2024, Volunteer United made an incredible impact in the Sioux Empire donating over 958 volunteer hours. Check out our full impact report here!

Join us in supporting Feeding South Dakota!

Together we'll help with a range of tasks based on their operational needs for the day. Opportunities include packing boxes for their mobile food distribution and senior box programs, preparing bags for their Backpack program, and sorting through their donated items.

Volunteers are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing and close-toed shoes. Parking is available in the east parking lot - a sign that reads "Volunteer Parking" means you are in the correct place! Please check-in at the front desk.

To participate you will need to register before September 11 & sign a waiver with Feeding South Dakota. Please be on the lookout for an email with a link to the waiver 1 week before the event.

Join Volunteer United at Lutheran Social Services for some after-school fun! Volunteers will play a game with the group of kiddos in attendance that day, as well as complete a craft or two. Please be ready to chat, play, and create! If the weather is pretty, be prepared to be outside for a portion of the event!

Please sign up by September 17. Note: your name will be given to LSS on September 18 so they can run through a background check (a standard and required practice at LSS since you will be interacting with minors!). Signing up for this event provides consent for SEUW to provide this information to LSS.

Owen’s Outfitters is a medical equipment lending library located in Sioux Falls. Their mission is to provide durable and disposable medical equipment at no charge to those who need it most, sourced through community donations. Essentially, families donate medical items ranging from band aids to hospital beds, Owen's Outfitters refurbishes them, organizes them, and gives them away to anyone in need!

Please join us for an afternoon of supporting Owen's Outfitters. Now located in a brand-new warehouse, this event will have multiple opportunities available, from painting the warehouse walls, to organizing medical equipment and assisting in day-to-day operations.

Emily’s Hope is dedicated to removing the stigma of substance use disorder through awareness, education, and prevention; and removing financial barriers for treatment and recovery.

Volunteers will be prepping supplies and assembling naloxone kits. Naloxone is a life-saving medication that can temporarily block the effects of an opioid overdose. These kits are distributed to distribution boxes across South Dakota!

Tasks may include: unboxing supplies, breaking down boxes, and assembling kits in an assembly line format. Volunteers will be able to sit if needed.
