2019 Campaign Goal is Set

Sioux Empire United Way celebrated the start of the 2019 Campaign on September 18 with nearly 300 community supporters attending a Kickoff Event at Harmony South Dakota.

Volunteer Campaign Chair, Chris Kray announced this year’s fundraising goal of $10,043,495. Kray noted, “Our campaign goal is set based on the allocations recommendations from our community impact volunteers. This year volunteers donated 1,500 hours of their time to review community needs, program services, and fund requests. They determined funding needs for 86 different programs in 2019.”

Harmony South Dakota is one of the 86 programs to receive funds from Sioux Empire United Way. Harmony started in 2014, in part with funding from a United Way Community Impact Grant. The program provides a free, after-school music program to students and builds a community through responsibility, respect, group contribution, and love.

“We value our partnership with Sioux Empire United Way,” noted Dan Goeller, Director of Harmony. “We see the good created by the funds given to the United Way every day in the students we serve.”

Last year’s Sioux Empire United Way campaign was supported by 24,000 individuals and 700 businesses. In the next few months, more than 700 volunteers will work on the community fundraising effort.
