Passion and Knowledge: Meet Jody Kollars

JodyOne might say  Jody has worn many hats for United Way. In her early 20’s, she began volunteering while working at a bank. Since then, she has served  as a loaned executive, a campaign manager and board member. But the most important role Jody has played is that of a donor. “A donation to Sioux Empire United Way is not only easy but also effective,” she adds. “Just $1 per week makes a difference and changes lives in the Sioux Empire.”

Since beginning her new position  as the Major Gifts & Planned Giving Director in January 2022, Jody’s main focus has been  centered on relationship building and donor development. “I love getting to know people and what they care about,” she adds. Jody’s  love of people is infectious, as she goes on to describe how she is honored to be part of an organization where there are so many great people; both internally and externally. “Our volunteers and donors care deeply and use their resources to support us and our partner agencies.”

One of her fondest memories since starting to work for Sioux Empire United Way is serving as a liaison for major donors. This group, called the Alexis de Tocqueville Society, has an annual fall gathering hosted by one of the member families. Last year’s event was hosted by Mike and Cindy Heuther at Heuther Family Match Pointe. “We had a record turnout with wonderful food and touching stories about the impact Sioux Empire United Way makes in our community.”

When not focusing on growing the planned giving program, increasing memberships in the Alexis de Tocqueville Society, or managing campaign volunteers, Jody  enjoys spending time at home with her husband Chad and their two dogs, Daisy and Sadie. They also have two grown children, Darian and Jackson, that live in the area.

Even though Jody is passionate about her work, she makes sure to maintain a work/life balance. In fact, her favorite quote is: “Don’t let making a living prevent you from making a life.” Thank you, Jody, for your time and dedication to serving the community through your work at Sioux Empire United Way.
