Sioux Empire United Way is excited to highlight our Marketing and Campaign Specialist, Courtney Fordahl.
Courtney was born and raised in Tyler, Minnesota. She later attended the College of St. Benedict/St. John's University and received a bachelor's degree in communication. After graduation, Courtney worked at Karwoski & Courage Public Relations and FleishmanHillard, marketing and public relations agencies based in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
At Sioux Empire United Way, Courtney manages Sioux Empire United Way’s social media and digital communications, helping to share impactful stories and engage the community. She also contributes to the development and execution of marketing and campaign initiatives to further the organization's mission.

What does your day-to-day work look like? In my day-to-day work, you can find me creating a social media post and helping with campaign materials or initiatives!
What's your reason for working at SEUW? I was drawn to work at Sioux Empire United Way because I admired the organization for doing so much good in the Sioux Falls community. Being part of an organization that creates positive change for people in the community deeply meaningful to me.
How long have you worked at SEUW? Since February 2025.
What’s something you do at work that makes your job more fun? I enjoy listening to music or one of my favorite podcasts while working. I also love chatting with my co-workers about
If you had to describe your job using only a movie title, what would it be? The Social Network
What’s one thing you love about our workplace culture? I love that we go all in to celebrate both big and small holidays, do team activities and lunches together, and check in with each other in the office.
What’s one skill you’d love to learn? I'm currently working on my golf game, so I'd love to further my golf skills or learn how to garden well!
What’s the weirdest or funniest job you’ve ever had? Growing up a farm kid, I would say the weirdest (and first) job I had was probably picking up rocks in the fields.
If you could swap jobs with anyone in the company for a week, who would it be and why? I would swap places with Taryn for a week, so I could have her energy and meet more people in the Sioux Falls community.
What are some of your favorite hobbies or what do you like to do for fun? I love reading, cooking/baking, fitness, lake time, and traveling whenever I can. I enjoy spending time with family and friends and my husband Isaac and my cat, Nico.
What’s the last show you binge-watched? The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City or Love Island. My guilty pleasure is reality TV!
What’s your dream travel destination? I have a long list... but I'll say the Amalfi Coast in Italy! I'd also love to go back to South Africa, where I studied abroad to visit Cape Town.
If you could have any superpower for a day, what would it be and why? I would choose teleportation to go to as many destinations as I could in a day!
If you were an action figure, what accessories would you come with? If I were an action figure, my accessories would be my phone, my Owala tumbler, a good lip balm, and my cat!
