Sioux Empire United Way is very grateful for the leaders of our community to give their time, energy, and passion to our organization year after year. We have many great leaders who serve on our Board of Directors and we would not be able to continue to make an impact in the 33 communities of the Sioux Empire without their expertise and leadership. Let's get to know a few of these members.
Our Marketing Division Chair is Kate Kotzea from Click Rain.1. What is your favorite part of the holiday season?
It's an easy one, but it's spending time with family and friends. There are a lot of great reasons to get together with those you love to celebrate the season with.
2. As a long time volunteer with Sioux Empire United Way and many other organizations, why do you continue to volunteer? How do you hope this will impact your family?
I think it's important to give back to your community, and we are so lucky in Sioux Falls to have so many wonderful organizations and people continually striving to make this a better place for all who call Sioux Falls home. For my kids, I hope it shows them the importance of community, giving back, and opening their eyes to all the different circumstances people come from.
3. What funded program do you think people would be surprised to learn about?
BrightStart with the Children’s Home Shelter for Family Safety is such a great program to me. They work with expecting new moms to develop a healthy pregnancy and stay with the family the first few years as the baby is growing up. The program provides such great support and stability to new moms who might not have that elsewhere and is really setting up that family to be the best they can. So much starts at home and this program does a great job of keeping everyone together and getting off to the right start.
4. What are you most thankful for or excited for in 2020?
I'm very thankful for good health for myself, family, and friends. It's something we should never take for granted! In 2020, we'll be welcoming baby number three, so very excited for that new adventure!
