Coming Together to Lift Up and Protect Our Neighbors

In an amazing example of the Sioux Empire's generosity and network of support, our community is stepping up, answering the call for social distancing, while maintaining our dedication to supporting others in need. Here are just a few powerful examples of how our funded agencies are helping in this time of great need and uncertainty:

Helpline Center's 211 is answering the call. Staff are on-hand 24/7 to answer calls around COVID-19. Whether it is questions about who or where to call if you have symptoms, what to do if your family is in need of food assistance, or how to volunteer your time to help those in need the Helpine Center is here to provide assistance.

Feeding South Dakota is mobilizing volunteers statewide to assemble emergency food distribution boxes.

Active Generations has shifted programming services to keep our more vulnerable population safe, while also packing 3,000 dry emergency meals for Meals on Wheels recipients.

Maintaing Good in Uncertain Times

Sioux Empire United Way staff, like many organizations in our community, have shifted to working remotely when possible and moved all meetings online or through phone.

We remain in communication with our funded agencies and supporters and are committed to continuing to protect and serve children, vulnerable adults, and people in crisis during this time.
