Volunteer Spotlight: Jeff Strand

Sioux Empire United Way is very grateful for the leaders of our community to give their time, energy, and passion to our organization year after year. We have many great leaders who serve on our Board of Directors and we would not be able to continue to make an impact in the 33 communities of the Sioux Empire without their expertise and leadership.  Let's get to know a few of these members.

Our Community Impact Chair is Jeff Strand from Eide Bailly.

1. What funded program do you think people would be surprised to learn more about?

The Avera Wellness program and what it does for the whole family with its coordination with the school district.

2. How did you find yourself volunteering with United Way and what is the impact this has made on your personal or professional life?

Charles Bailly, named partner in Eide Bailly LLP, told me I needed to give back to my family, faith, community and profession. This statement was the driver in my involvement with Sioux Empire United Way. My involvement in SEUW goes back to 1989, the first year I moved to Sioux Falls, my involvement helps me understand the WHOLE need of the Sioux Empire. Without this involvement, there are many needs in the Sioux Empire I would have been unaware of.

3. How do you enjoy staying active in the winter and through the holidays?

I try to do as many activities as I can with my grandchildren, be it their programs and school activities or our outside activities such as skiing, skating, snowmobiling, or just enjoying an outdoor fire.

4. What are you most grateful for this holiday season?

My family, community and health!

5. Why do you support United Way?

Sioux Empire United Way is such an efficient way for my wife, Reneece, and I to give and make a difference in the Sioux Empire.
